I fundamentally believe anyone can learn. If a student isn’t grasping a concept, it just means I have to change my style of teaching. My approach to teaching relies heavily on the use of modeling. Modeling is a powerful tool in the development of not only writing and language skills, but also in exposing my students to a framework which will allow them to hone their own thought processes and work habits. I find that each person has a different learing style and try to find out what works for them. I also teach them that organization of thoughts and ideas are helpful in how they approach learning. I relate the subject matter to what is needed to learn and to something that they can relate to. I believein repetition and that all people can learn if someone takes the time to find out their individual learning style.
