A Little Bit About Me...

I have experience teaching and assisting children in Elementary School. I also have a BS degree in Biology and would love to tutor. I had a 3.0 GPA Undergraduate. I have worked in laboratories for the preious four years using my Biology degree in the Biomedical Field. I also worked as a Sitter in a hospital for a short time where I cared for disabled patients. I wasn't able to use my teaching skills but my caring and patient attitude helped with the position.
I like to connect with the children and really get them interested in the subject. I am laid back but I think I am really effective as a teacher/assistant.

Experienced and Proactive Educator

I believe that competence and confidence are BOTH important in learning. Students bring their own knowledge and learning styles to the process. It is the teachers job not only to adapt instructional style to best support the learner, but also to help the student understand his or her own learning style and needs.
Experienced and New York State Certified teacher. I have over 10 years experience teaching students in grades 1-12 and 5 years experience teaching adults. I also have extensive tutoring experience. I have an MA from Marist College as well as a BA from NYU. I have designed and taught SAT prep classes (verbal/writing portion) as well as developing curriculum integrating diverse domains of knowledge to create a broad, deep and flexible learning experience for students.

I am not a teacher; I am an awakener!

I have taught in the education field since 1999. I am very fortunate to have had the privilege of working with a multitude of learners in a variety of environments. Early in my career I worked with adults that were mentally and physically challenged. I found this very rewarding and decided to pursue a degree in education, which lead me on my journey into the world of Special Education. I began working with children and young adolescents who had a variety of special needs and learning styles; I went on to specialized Autism and Special Education for K-12. After working with young children for many years I decided to branch out to work with young adolescents and adults pursuing their high school equivalency. Working with young adolescents and adults proved to be just as rewarding as working with small children. Helping someone achieve a life long dream of obtaining their high school diplom ... read more

Become a star, through dedication and desire to succeed!!

I have taught in both suburban schools at the high school level and urban schools at the elementary/middle school level. While teaching I previously have tutored students. My main experience teaching has been various science courses but I have also taught math and reading. I began my education thinking I would be an elementary school teacher but then discovered my love of science so I took additional classes while completing my Master's so I could be certified to teach science. When I began teaching I realized many special education students were not receiving the appropriate accommodations to ensure their success so I decided to specialize in Special Education as I pursue my PhD so I can offer the best education to my students and help them become successful and feel confident with their new skills.
I love interacting with my students and finding out what drives them and what ... read more

My comments on tutoring Biology : Have taught Living Environment at the High School level.

I was employed by the Lakeland Central School District as a substitute Teacher Aide and later in a full time capacity. I worked for the OASIS Program and later at the Alternative High School. After completing my Bachelor's Degree at Concordia College, I applied for and was accepted into the New York City Teaching Fellows Program. I taught Special Education at a high needs urban high school in the Bronx. This was a challenging and rewarding experience. Many of my students continued on to post secondary schools. I am currently finishing my Master's degree program at City College of New York, expected graduation is May 2013.
I have a varied style, which is geared to the learning style of my students. I teach world to text, text to text, text to life.

I have been tutoring since high school. I began as a tutor during summer school for students on track to graduate. Now I work as a peer tutor at SUNY Orange, tutoring a range of subjects in Math and Science primarily. I've had students recommended to me by former students, as well as former students approaching me for private tutoring if our schedules didn't fit for peer tutoring. I've run study sessions for different courses that I've taken, both for the entire class and for a small number of students.

I have several years of tutoring experience at various settings including urban, suburban, and rural high and middle schools. I have tutored such subjects as French, Spanish, Math, and English. I have also tutored college students in subjects including sociology, psychology, statistics, and others. I have instructed students on various study techniques, writing skills, and note-taking practices. I am currently a licensed social worker with a range of experiences building rapport with young people and collaborating with school staff and officials.
I enjoy tutoring immensely and look forward to beginning again. I like the challenge of engaging and reaching different types of learners. I use my social works skills in tutoring and vice versa. I think these two fields are closely related in the sense that I seek to empower my students as I would my clients.

I earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry from Manhattan College in 2002. After working for companies such as Pfizer and Weill Cornell Medical College, I returned to school, receiving my Master’s in Education from Pace University in 2007. I enjoys sharing the wonder of the physical world with inquiring young minds.
My educational philosophy is based on the fact that individuals learn differently, and this has led to the practice of instructing using alternative methods. Since true learning occurs when students are in a trustworthy environment, I find creativity and flexibility to be an asset in both constructing such an environment and determining how each student will take responsibility for their education. Furthermore, young people must be provided with experiential opportunities that foster the creation of their own connections, and my patience helps me to act as a fac ... read more

Here is Some Good Information About Biology Tutoring

A subdiscipline of Biology is cellular biology which examines the basic building block of all life, the cell. Looking for help? Select a tutor today. Cell theory states that the cell is the fundamental unit of life, and that all living things are composed of one or more cells or the secreted products of those cells (e.g. shells). All cells arise from other cells through cell division. In multicellular organisms, every cell in the organism's body derives ultimately from a single cell in a fertilized egg.
