My teaching philosophy mirrors my learning philosophy. I believe in using a variety of methods and media to reach students on a level they can understand. Knowing that not all students learn in the same way necessitates an understanding of individual facilitation as well as group facilitation. I really enjoy getting people of all ages to learn. My day job is with Easter Seals where I work with all ages and disabilities. With both Easter Seals and tutoring, I found that it requires a wide variety of approaches to get my clients to learn. I have learned a lot of patience and creativity in this time. I enjoy teaching with individuals of all ages. I believe that every person should learn something new everyday and to succeed in doing this all that is needed is a common link. My patience and determination show to my students that I am there to help them. Coupling this with a view at the big picture helps a teacher better understand which ways a student learns. Since all students do not learn in the same manner it is pertinent to establish a game plan in the first meeting and help them work through any difficulties that they may learning the subject manner. While I earned my bachelor's degree in communication from Loyola, I also worked as an Academic coach for high school students. I spent a year tutoring students for an academic competition that tested all skill areas including, writing, math, history and science. I spent the summer of 2006 working closely with people with disabilities. I perfected my teaching skills through hands-on learning/teaching techniques.
