My teaching career has been devoted to helping individual students achieve their potential. I have taught struggling students at all grade levels. As a reading teacher, I diagnosed each student’s strengths and weaknesses. I then tailored instruction to meet each student’s needs. I have also been a Learning Disabilities teacher in a small community. This gave me the experience of teaching a wide variety of subjects to students in elementary through high school. My teaching experience includes teaching English to students who came to school speaking another language. A Little Bit About Me...

During my musical career, I have had multiple professional experiences as a teacher and performer. This summer will be my fourth summer teaching at the New York Summer Music Festival, in Oneonta, New York. For this festival I am responsible for organizing and coaching chamber groups, teaching private lessons, giving reed classes and master classes, and coaching sectionals. During the last three years, I have been the theory teacher at Clavier Werke School of Music in Austin, TX, where I have prepared students for exams, and have taught them the fundamentals of theory, and ear training. I have also taught in the Austin public schools for the past three years, where I have oboe and other woodwind instruments.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have been working with children since I graduated from high school. I was a teachers assistant for the hearing impaired for 4 years and did some tutoring on the side for both deaf and hearing children. I attended college and received my bachelors degree in Psychology and then got a job as a teacher on an emergency credential and realized I loved teaching. When I graduated from college, I taught bilingual elementary kindergarten for 2 years on an emergency credential. I moved to Missouri in 1995 and since 1997 I have been a daycare director till recently. I enjoy seeing the pride and joy in each child when they learn something new. It's a great accomplishment to be a part of that feeling and success.
