My first teaching experience was in high school teaching at after school programs about basic economic principles that may apply to kids. That was my first time understanding that I have potential to assist others in grasping topics. In my college career, I found myself teaching people everything from music to proper uses of tense/grammar. It was there that i learned that you really only learn a small fraction of what you need to help you in life in the classroom. The rest must be learned on your own or with some one-on-one counseling. As an individual with business field experience and a bachelor degree, I have gained a wide array of experience. I have written all forms of papers, documents, and instructions as well as designed statistics, and testing methods. Statistics, Business Acumen, Organization, and a wide range of computer software are my primary skills. In addition to my education and work experience, my teaching style derives primarily from my experience as a High School football coach. Coaching at all levels from middle school to high school has given mea unique perspective on seeing how different students learn and comprehend things. My last class was a self-contained 6th grade, with a 34% ELL and 14% special education population. My class average reading level rose from 4.6 to 7.1. Of all the students in the school who surpassed the required State testing and higher District goals in both reading and math, 75% came from my class, as did the winners of the school's essay contest, spelling bee and geography competition. My first career was in medicine where I gave direct care, taught military/civilian classes and participated extensively in research, gaining a deep understanding of science biology and chemistry and human A&P. As "stay at home" mom of 6, I have used my two Bachelors' degrees for the education of my own children. I've taught them essential reading and writing skills, study habits, organization skills, science projects, practical application of principles, and a love of learning.
