I have a student-centered teaching style. That means I see at what level the student is and meet him/her at that level. Then we together move up to where he/she needs to be.
I have taught for many years in all levels of secondary school, alternative schools, and tutoring centers.I eat, sleep, and drink tutoring as I tutor every day during the school year and do lots of research to help my kids in whatever academic subject is causing them difficulty. I am very personable and easy to get along with. My teaching style is relational. I think that students learn best when they are allowed to explore and find the tools that really work for them, I am happy to help students learn in this way and am very patient. I have high standards and believe in hard work and the pursuit of excellence.
I personally designed my undergraduate degree. I believe this shows the value I place on personal initiative in education. I have experience in teaching reading and writing to elementary school students. I also have experience tutoring my peers in reading, writing, art and literature. In my spare time I write fiction and creative non-fiction for a writer's group.
