As a music student at SUNY Fredonia, one of the finest institutions for music in the Northeast, I gained a great deal of experience in music, but also in the liberal arts. SUNY Fredonia is an institution that specializes in well-rounded students. I have written several research papers, which have developed my keen knowledge of spelling, grammar, citation requirements, and writing techniques. I have tutored many students in music theory, and have proofread research papers, program notes for many a performance, and have also taught voice lessons extensively, which gives me a great deal of one-on-one experience. I love to work with children of any age. I have been volunteering for over 15 years helping wherever and whenever I can to help make the lives of children more enriched. I have two boys of my own (age 10 and 14) and have been successful in helping them achieve the best they can. I have been teaching kids as a substitute for many years and went back to school in my middle 30's to become a teacher. Unfortunately the availability of teaching positions in my area has prevented me from full time employment but I've kept myself busy subbing and working with young adults and those with disabilities further their educational needs.

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching and working with children not only educates them but it educates myself in the process. I get to touch up on materials that the children are learning, as well as learn better ways to educate students. Patience is what I believe is the most important aspect of teaching. Children can become unfocused very easily. When children are distracted it may be very difficult to get them focused. Taking your time and making sure they refocus, can actually save time. If they are unfocused and miss a part of what is instructed, they will be confused throughout the whole process. It helps to be patient with the educating process. These educators who take the time to make sure everything is understood make a huge difference in each student.
