My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : I use a multisensory approach espoused by the Orton-Gillingham approach to reading instruction. Sight, sound, and neurological pathways to develop reading skills are utilized.

My comments on tutoring Dyslexia : As a dyslexic student myself, I have intimate knowledge of the possible difficulties with learning a new language.

During the last two years of my undergraduate career I worked as an Arabic and Economics tutor in the Academic Resource Center at Tufts University. With respect to Arabic, I worked with Beginner and Intermediate level students - extensively using Al-Kitaab. Being dyslexic, I have an intimate knowledge of the difficulties that dyslexic students face when learning a new language, especially with an abjad like Arabic. I also have considerable "teaching" experience due to my time working as a personal trainer.

In my first teaching position, I worked with emotionally disturbed and learning disabled students at the elementary level in the South Bronx. This included providing individual, small group and whole class instruction to students with learning disabilities, emotional disturbances, and multiple disabilities. In my second and third year teaching, I worked at The Guild for the Blind on West 65th Street in New York City.
