I recently graduated from a private college in Illinois. I was attending in hopes of receiving my Bachelors in Secondary English Education. Due to life events I had to graduate early without the full completion of this degree. I have been helping in 6-12 English, theater, Language Arts, and Reading classes for 4 years and I plan on starting my Master's Degree in School Counseling next fall.
I have a very hands-on teaching approach. In order for a child to truly grasp a concept or show their understanding, they must demonstrate the skill. It would be a disservice to them if it was a "listen only" style.

I prefer a style that empowers the students to take ownership of their work so they will become better thinkers and writers. I prefer discussion-based learning opposed to "lecture-style" teaching where I can interact freely with the student as a peer-tutor. My love for teaching goes as far back as my high school years. Specifically, in 2004, when I graduated from high school, I decided to take a gap year before enrolling in college.
