I would say that it is a little more toward laid back. Being over 6" tall, stocky, pushing hard, being an ogre, hard-nosed, that isn't going to work for me. People have a tendency to be a bit intimidated and fearful because of my size. I will use it to my advantage if it is necessary, or becomes necessary, but I've found being a little more quiet, reserved and coaxing the student to initiate the discussion is a little better. Ask leading questions, adjust and proceed, based on their response.
I have received degrees in Int'l Business from Lourdes College, as well an Associates Degree in Accounting from Owens Community College. I love teaching students of all ages and I recognize that most students do not get the help they need during the school day, which is why it is important for them to get the help they need outside of class. Each student learns differently and it is important for me to figure out a way that works best for him or her so that I can instill the techniques that will help them throughout their entire educational career.
