As a Western Michigan University graduate, I have a strong feeling that education is the foundation that we build upon. Education is of the utmost importance these days with the world forever getting smaller and business continuing to become more global. It is in our best interests to see to it that our children of today build a firm foundation to build upon for our future. With my BS in Aviation Science and Administration, I have taken many science and math courses and written many research papers. Young people learn through different ways and means. I try to discern the best method to instruct any particular student with whom I am tutoring at the time. I like to give examples of problems, and "problem solve" with the student through illustrative examples on paper or on the board. I encourage questions and feedback to ensure that the young person is indeed learning "how" to solve a problem, not simply to "get" a solution. A student's practical demonstration of problem solving is the best gauge to determine if that student is indeed learning or not. While giving instruction, I strive to be patient, accomodating and respectful of the student in need. I love to give encouragement and praise for any task or assignment done well!
