A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate of a Big Ten school, and a current master’s level student, I have had many focuses in school that I can teach in the tutoring setting. I also currently work in education as a tutor and a substitute teacher, sometimes as a child care worker. Subjects: political science, biology, math through pre-calculus, accounting, English, computer technology, and a few more. I have honed my writing and research skills through my experience in my master’s program, and through a year working as a full time staff writer for a health and wellness company. A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught math from grades 8 to 12 in a public high school. As a professor, I taught statistics to undergraduates in two private universities (Case Western Reserve University and Dartmouth) for a total of twelve years, and biostatistics at the graduate level at Harvard and Dartmouth for 17 years. I have tutored students privately in math, statistics, and computer science for over 30 years. In addition, I have published two books plus dozens of applied research papers in the medical sciences which rely heavily on the application of statistics.
I am a very patient person who has been called a natural teacher. I speak clearly and well. Being no stranger to difficult classroom settings, I understand that ideal teaching conditions rarely exist. I enjoy to challenge of encouraging more distracted students to learn, and possess the compassion and patience to work with most students. More About This Tutor...

Students that I have tutored/mentored have become very successful in their life after graduation from H.S./College. I know that if a child can read, and understand what they read, they can be successful in life. That is my first priorty in the education of a student.
During the past 5 years I have been a substitute teacher for Kentwood Public Schools and Excel Charter School in both elementary and high school classes. This experience has given me insight into what I feel is necessary for students to prepare for the future i.e college, skilled labor, technology etc. I have administered tests to evaluate pupil progress and issue reports to parents to discuss student progress and any problems that may exist.
