One of the main things I learned in teaching various ages of children in Sunday School is that when they are liked and respected and they know that, they are paying attention and leaning even when they appear to be bored.
All of my teaching experience has been in a Sunday School setting. I understand that this is not in the school system, but I have had the oppertunity to learn to relate to children of various ages. I would say that my teaching style is very interactive. Anyone can give instructions but I love feedback from a one on one situation as well as a group environment. I base alot of my instruction on analogies; when a person can relate an experience or another word to a term being tought, their understanding is broadened and 99% of the time embedded in the longterm memory. That to me is not only developing the ability to draw on a built up knowledge base, but also broadens ones ability to convey what has been learned.
