I love to teach people. However, I prefer to teach older students, such as high school and college kids, especially in math because they are often actually interested in the subject as apposed to completing their basic requirements. I am usually a very laid back teacher but can be very strict when the situation requires it.
As a mechanical engineer I have been doing applied calculus and physics since I started school. As an undergraduate I was a peer mentor to the freshman engineers. We taught the students to juggle both figuratively and literally. It was especially rewarding because I had been in their situation only a few years before. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience with tutoring ranges from being tutored in middle school at Sylvan Learning Center (due to not being challenged enough in my private school classroom) to tutoring fellow classmates and my friends' younger siblings in a range of subjects during high school and college. I have extensive experience instructing and guiding 12 through 17 year olds from working as a camp counselor for three consecutive summers. The nature of my double major in religion and philosophy from Calvin College dictated that the bulk of my coursework focused on abstract thinking, theoretical reasoning, and argumentative essay writing. A Little Bit About Me...

During the last three years of my undergraduate college career, I was a Mathematics tutor for student athletes. Although the courses covered while tutoring ranged from basic math to calculus, I am more comfotable tutoring algebra and geometry. I earned my BA with a double major in Mathematics and Russian in just four years. After college, I helped my sister and step-sister with their math and math-related physcis problems.
During my three years of formal tutoring, I was able to change my tutoring styles to fit the needs of the student. Everyone learns differently and it is important to realize and adjust my tutoring accordingly.
