A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently the Sixth Grade History Teacher at Williamsburg Collegiate Charter School. My responsibilities at WCCS include developing rigorous objectives for the Sixth Grade History curriculum. Moreover, I serve as a Special Education Guided Reading Instructor for eight, Sixth grade students. I have experience working with children with learning differences both in and out of the classroom setting. In addition, I served as Co-Director of Bear Buddies in Brunswick, ME. for three years. Furthermore, I studied French for six years - in middle, high school and in college. I have tutored students in the subject for four years.

I am not a professional teacher, but I played one in newsrooms at several newspapers. During a span of 20 years as reporter, sports writer, copy editor, section editor and editor-in-chief, I trained many new hires -- and even a few veterans -- in spelling, grammar, punctuation, comprehension of written material and in writing. I did not take graduate classes, but I did take the Graduate Record Exam. I scored in the upper 15% in both Verbal and Essay. I do not consider myself a classically trained scholar or academic. A Little Bit About Me...

Working with students and education has been a part of my life for about 11 years. I first began doing so in high school, around 1999 working as a volunteer with the YMCA. Eventually I became a counselor and would work my way up to Camp Director. I am proud to say that I am the first of my family to attend a University. Currently I am a senior at Cuny Lehman College in the Bronx, NY where I study English Literature and minor in Secondary Education. Recently I have just returned from studying at the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras. The year abroad helped me to better understand my culture and gain a stronger grip on my native language. I believe education is truly the key to success.
