Writing is one of my top subjects! In my spare time, I love to write - and have just finished writing a novel that is soon to be published. I love to write, and help others reach their true potential in this area.

I have tutored many in accounting at Ohio State and Franklin University. I try to make the student understand the underlying accounting principles that are involved in their problems. To train them in ways to cross check and verify their answers. I try to get the student to verbalize what they have learned. I firmly believe that if they can explain it logically to me,they understand.If not, more work is necessary. In addition, the ability to communicate is critical in the accounting field. I train them to enter the world of public accounting or business with confidence and teach them what to expect. Accounting is the language of business but they must learn how to speak it.

I try to take a hands-on approach to teaching when possible. I find it helpful to use varied and often unusual objects and materials when teaching a lesson; it tends to make the material more memorable. However I am not above using the standard pencil/paper/textbook approach when needed.
I consider myself to be a "beginner" teacher as I have recently graduated college and received my license. I have spent roughly 500 hours in the field as a result of college course requirements, and I have successfully completed a 12 week internship (student teaching) experience. During my years at The Ohio State University, I earned a B.A. in Psychology, and completed a year and a half of Masters work in Social Work. After completing my B.A., I was hired as a professional tutor. In the year of 2004, I began substitute teaching for public schools such as North Fork, Licking Valley, Heath and Granville. In the year of 2008, I began going to the country of India to teach English to students who were nationals as well as from the countries of Nepal, Bangladesh and Myanmar. Some of these students were already fluent while others could not speak any English. Within three months, they were able to read, write and speak English. I also had the opportunity to teach in a public school while I was there. In each classroom there were anywhere from eighty to one hundred children. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always felt strongly drawn to education, particularly in the field of literacy. I grew up as a child who loved to read, and I love to pass that on to others. After receiving my degree in English Literature, I became a teacher's aide at a small Montessori school in Springfield, Ohio. I taught my students reading for concepts and spelling in a small group setting, never more than four at a time.
