I love helping others overcome obstacles to understanding, and showing them that they have the ability to do what they thought was impossible. I believe in building upon a solid foundation so that the student really learns and understands the concepts of a subject (and doesn’t just shoot for a passing grade). I like to discuss the material and include additional background information because that helps make the subject more interesting. Where formulas, memorization and/or calculations are involved, I will explain, practice, check for understanding and practice again. I LOVE teaching. I enjoy working with students and helping them see something new or understand a concept they are studying in class. Spanish and teaching are my passions. I think teaching - AND learning - should be fun, clear, concise and comprehensible.
I have taught Spanish and English in the high school setting since 1996. I have also taught ESL/ ESOL at homes, in schools, and for private organizations during that time and have had students from ages 6 - 66 from many different countries and at a variety of knowledge levels.
