I have helped children and teens from all ages in the field of English as well as performing arts. I have a passion for fine arts and literature and enjoy tutoring and helping others. I also have a passion for mathematics and have tutored several classmates in past years. Here on the campus of East Carolina University, I have been involved in several different mentoring programs to help motivate and enrich children. During the Fall and Winter breaks I assist with End-of-Grade testing preparation at church. My teaching style varies by the student. If the student learns fast and is persitent, I will move at a faster state, but if the student learns at a normal or a slower pace I will move at a rate in which the child will get the most out of the tutoring experience.

I write periodically for a hometown newspaper. For the past 23 years, I have been working with the Testing Program for the state of North Carolina. I'm currently the English Content Specialist for Grades 3 and 4 Reading. I help to write the End-of-Grade Reading Tests for NC Public Schools. I have taught high school English for one year and second grade for 3 years. I have worked for the Kenly News and continue to write for them periodically. I like to present information in a way that immediately engages the student and makes him or her want to learn. I have a great sense of humor and like to make learning fun. I give the student the information, help him or her process the information, answer any questions and make sure he or she understands by performing the task involved.
