A Little Bit About Me...

Through the extensive teacher preparation program at SUNY Geneseo, I had a wide variety of experiences. As a member of Kappa Delta Pi, I worked with an ESOL student to tutor him in humanities. I also worked in the Access Opportunity Program area, in which I tutored students in English and math. I have continued to gain experience through volunteering with Turkish refugees in the Mt. Hope area in English, math, and science.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a high school special education teacher with a primary focus on ELA. Currently, I co-teach in integrated classrooms, grades 9, 11, and 12, with regular education teachers and we have designed a curriculum focusing on intensive writing to assist our students in passing the NYS ELA Regents. We have a 91% passing success rate for both regular education and special needs students. If I am tutoring a young person I contact the teacher so that I can find out what areas the student needs review in. Many times the teacher will give me the resources and materials to use. Also, I like to use the guide books for each grade that are sold in stationary areas of most stores. For tutoring in reading I've found the Leapfrog Reading Program is very helpful. I like to meet my students at the library so that I can use the resources found in the library, including the computer. Many times I use educational games because are very useful tools in learning, and they are fun.
