I graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education/Child Development (ZA Endorsement). From that point on, I subbed in various elementary schools, including Rockford and Comstock Park. I obtained a kindergarten position at St. Adalbert School in the fall of 1996 and taught there for four years. I then transferred to St Paul the Apostle School in 2000, where for the past 10 years I have taught first grade. I earned my Master's Degree in Reading in the year 2003, which made me qualified to be a reading specialist.

My teaching style is simply to provide an environment that is conducive to learning – one which supports collaboration and teamwork, student-centricity, personalization, fun, and humor. I am committed to providing the highest quality education for my students. Each individual learns differently, and I have come to accept that I can't entirely please each and every individual in the classroom (especially when I have over 200 students). I have also come to accept that not every student will "like me". As an instructor, it is my role to present information in a way so students learn. I have realized that students learn, not because they think I am "cool", but rather because the information was presented to accommodate each and every learning style. Throughout my undergrad at Spring Arbor, I was a mentor as well as a co-leader of a small group to children ages K-12 which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also have had previous supervisory experience as the director of an after school program for an entire school year, as well as a day camp counselor for two summers; both with elementary age children as well. I enjoy working with this age group and plan to do school social work once I obtain my MSW. I have experience working one-on-one with children this age as well as in large group settings. I enjoy mentoring, tutoring, and encouraging youth at this age.
