I really pride myself in personalizing my tutoring. I try to never have more than 6-7 students at a time so that I can provide the best possible personalization of teaching to each student. Additionally, being at a similar age to many of my students helps me relate to them a lot better than some older tutors may be able to; I have more recent experience with taking the same courses/tests as them or applying to colleges like them, and this helps a lot in my tutoring personalization. I have more than 14 years of experience as a Literature, Language, Business Communications, Technical Writing, and Composition Instructor at the college level. I hold a Master of Arts degree in English Language and Literature and a TOEFL certificate which I earned before teaching for five years in Poland. Although my expertise is in adult education, I have a great deal of experience teaching at both the middle school and high school levels.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a classroom instructor, I am conscious that one needs to constantly engage with and interact with the class. I always taught in a tutorial style, where after I've introduced the material the students must solve a puzzle or problem based on it. I believe that to engage students there must be a discovery component to the class. In a tutoring role, one can take the students strengths and build on those. Often a student has lost all confidence (and hope!) and doesn't realize how much he or she knows. By patiently building from simple problems this confidence can be restored.
As a graduate student at UC Berkeley, I was a TA for twelve semesters in a range of physics classes. In 2002 I won the UC Berkeley Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor award.
