During the past 5 years I have been a substitute teacher for Kentwood Public Schools and Excel Charter School in both elementary and high school classes. This experience has given me insight into what I feel is necessary for students to prepare for the future i.e college, skilled labor, technology etc. I have administered tests to evaluate pupil progress and issue reports to parents to discuss student progress and any problems that may exist.
Students that I have tutored/mentored have become very successful in their life after graduation from H.S./College. I know that if a child can read, and understand what they read, they can be successful in life. That is my first priorty in the education of a student.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have seen through substituting that there are many children who need extra attention to help them understand a certain subject. Tutoring will allow me to give them the one-on-one they need to learn something that is hard in a classroom setting. I like to connect with the children immediately and try to use examples of real-life situations to guide their learning. I believe a good learning technique is to use the things the children are familiar with and try to apply it to what I am teaching them. Substitute Teaching has given me experience in teaching on a daily basis with complete different sets of itinerary. Within minutes I have to read lesson plans and quide classes through the instruction provided.
