My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : Teaching experience with ADD/ADHD and autistic children

I have worked previously as an au pair, summer camp counselor (Children's Arts Camp, Theater Pre-Orientation), and reading tutor. I have experience teaching children with various levels of autism and learning disorders. While my primary experience has been with performance arts such as dance, theater, and public speaking, I am also experienced in reading, composition, and creative writing. My comments on tutoring ADD/ADHD : I am certified to teach special education. I have experience teaching students with a variety of disabilities.

When I teach I use differentiated instruction, peer tutoring, and scaffolding. I also incorporate technology and manipulatives into the curriculum. I teach developmentally appreciated material,(learning level & style). I consider all of my students diversity when I teach each object.I stess literacy in all of the classes. As a college graduate I have been driven to do my best to make sure every child is given the opportunity to have the very best education. I have earned my Bachelor degree in early childhood but do not hold a teacher's certificate. I have had extensitve training in edcuation courses, and love helping children read. I believe that students best learn from doing. My role as a tutor is not just to provide answers, but to facilitate and encourage learning. I have always believed that each child is truly unique. I However do not believe that all education and forms of it, should be uniform. Working with children with special needs has allowed me to be able to get to know the student and adjust the curriculum so that the child will be able to benefit the most from!
As a communication disorders major I have acquired an understand and love for working with children. During my internship I was able to work one-on-one with children who have language disabilities. It was through this internship that I learned what a reward it can be to help others, and to see them flourish intellectually.

A Little Bit About Me...

My easy going nature and fun personality allows me to make learning interesting. I have always believed that the best way for someone to learn is to put the information into terms that are understandable to them. In the past I have used illustrations, acted out scenes from battles, utilized initialisms, and made up songs to help students learn concepts.
