I prefer one-on-one conversation in a question-and-answer format (Socratic method). However, sometimes a straightforward explanation is needed. For math tutoring, the best results come from working through problems step-by-step. I have been teaching at the college level for 6 years, and I have 2 years of earlier experience at the middle school level as well.
