Political Science is one of my top subjects! As an international studies major, my college level focus was on the principles of political science as observed and lived out on the international stage. I have both theoretical and practical knowledge of what I teach. Having attended the American University in the nation's capital, I have daily access to the federal government, and the embassies of many nations. I was Director of Education for two years and then served as Superintendent of Schools for two districts for a total of 15 years. During that time I never lost connection with teaching, mentoring students from all levels of education and continued to teach in the classroom at least once a week. I believe that all children learn differently and at different levels and as a teacher, you need to recongize that and adapt your lessons to your students so they can achieve. For social studies, most student think that class is all about taking notes and reading from the book but I put a twist on all of my lessons. I do a lot of group projects, I have the students do presentations for each other on the material and also reanacts of big events to help the students understand what really happened with that specific event and how it impacted history.
