A Little Bit About Me...

I'm at my best as a teacher when the student has a teachable spirit. I believe all of us (students, teachers and tutors) possess this. We have an innate desire to learn. Sometimes, though, that desire has to be gently prodded because it's been lost inside a student. I stretch my students, sometimes beyond what they think they can do. Encouragement and watchfulness go a long way in helping a student go further. Praise and accountability do, also. My job as a tutor or teacher is to find out how my student learns best, then adapt my teaching style to his/her skill level. I know how to do that. Students thrive in my presence when they bring a desire to learn because they go away feeling like they've accomplished something important.

A Little Bit About Me...

Currently, I have been teaching Emergency Medicine to help Reynolds Army Community Hospital maintain 100% proficiency in job qualifications and standards. This includes slides and instructor led courses. I have taught in English in a School to a classroom size of about 30 students in Korea for about 6 months. This required me to make lesson plans and activities and a positive learning environment. At the same time I tutored students in English in a local orphanage. I taught and instructed fellow technicians about one year to increase yield productions in a manufacturing environment. I typically use one series of method books, but sometimes choose other repertoire outside of the curriculum in order to best teach the student in the area that they need. I have had students with Asperger's syndrome (a form of autism) and dyslexia.I have also taught all age groups, ranging from 4 years to 65 years.
