After completing my Master of Science degree in Literacy Education, I went on to work as a Reading Specialist in New York City. I gained extensive experience in working with children with a wide variety of reading difficulties. I was able to structure sessions to meet the individual needs of my students. I went on to teach English Language Arts to fifth and sixth grade students where I incorporated authentic literature and read-alouds into my curriculum. I am finishing up my Bachelors degree in Dietetics at SUNY Oneonta- I will be graduated in December. I have been offered positions as a chemistry tutor but denied because of my other jobs. I was a student mentor for a year in high school to students that were "slacking" or wasn't understanding one or more of their classes. I worked at Albany ARC and worked to train young adults and adults in the kitchen- which also included basic skills such as counting and reading.
I really would like to help make a difference in someone's life and help them understand academics just like myself.
