I am the mother of 3 children and an elementary education teacher. Currently I am teaching 2nd grade but I've been teaching for 5 years and have experience in grades k,1, 2, 3 and 5. I've also had substitute and tutoring experience with grades k-12. I have experience with special needs both through my own children and within the classroom. In addition to a Bachelor's Degree I have 6 additional credit hours towards my Master's Degree and am currently enrolled in a 3 hour course. I first gained experience as a tutor as a senior at Westminster College where I volunteered as a science tutor in the college's learning center. I spent my time tutoring students in the subjects of biology and chemistry. I graduated as valedictorian of my High School Class with a 4.0 GPA. I also graduated with a 4.0 from Westminster College in 2003. As a fourth year medical student I have a GPA of 3.98 and am ranked number two (2) in my class. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is very hands on. I understand that students learn in a variety of ways. Some are hands on, and need to actually get their hands on the project to understand. Some learn by seeing it. They have to see it and then maybe write it and learn by visualizing. Some learn by listening. They can listen to a lecture and hang on to every word. I understand that all children are different, and therefore lessons have to be taylored to fit each child's learning needs. I love children and enjoy teaching. When I was teaching in a public school, I was very well liked by both children and parents. I was there for every child; not just the good ones. My goal was to take the child that other teachers talked negatively about in the lunchroom and show them that I had no problems with that same child. Teachers should not stereotype. As a non-traditional student, earning an Associates in Applied Science Degree majoring in Respiratory Therapy at Shawnee State University I excelled in both Science and English.
