I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Sociology. I have always had a passion for learning and helping others. I was a Honors English student and I have a strong interest in reading and writing. I have worked as a seasonal scorer of standardized assesments for a year. I was an America Reads America Counts tutor for 1 1/2 years. I tutored youth K-12 in both reading and math. I also provided homework assistance with other subjects. I am a very laid-back, out going person but I never stray from the main goal at hand. I strive to help educate children the best way possible, and would like to make a difference in their life. My education growing up was very positive, and going to a smaller school enabled me to have one on one contact with my educators. I hope to allow the child to feel comfortable with me as a tutor and build a relationship that makes them feel like they are an individual, not a number. I found working with young minds in different Early Childhood agencies is one reason for earning my Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education. I then wanted to expand my enjoyment and empower others by obtaining my BSW. I have wanted to be a Social Work ever since high school. Even though, in the last few years I have not worked with the young population, I still enjoy all the things they can teach me. I try to understand the level of where the children are and build on that. I am patient, considerate, consistant, non-judgmental and feel it is not too early to start teaching or a child to learn.
