A Little Bit About Me...

I think teaching style should depend on the student. Some people move at different paces or learn better from listening or from doing the work themselves with supervision and help. I am flexible with any style and once I become familiar with a person it becomes easier to see how they learn best.
I have been attending Northern Illinois University for the past 3 years and so far have had a great experience. I am double majoring in Spanish and geography and have had good success in both subject areas with a cumulative GPA of 3.95. They are both interests of mine and I have definitely improved during my time at NIU. I think I am qualified to share what I've learned with others who need help in either area and really enjoy working with people.

I am not young enough to know everything

I agree with the concept that each person learns a bit differently, and even more so that as a tutor, I should try and find the most effective style for my tutee. My academic career also taught me the importance of setting time limits for each action item; and switching tasks to keep the mind sharp.
You will see from my resume below that I have strong experience in math, science, engineering and computers. It is worth mentioning that I am also skilled in english (5 on my AP World Lit exam) and art (voted most artistic in my senior high school class). I have also tutored at least 4 students in the past, and found it to be a successful and rewarding experience. Katharine P. A Little Bit About Me...

Relaxed, personalized, result driven
I have had experience working with middle school students with various learning disabilities, so I have a lot of patience, and I used creative ways to help students learn and recall material for testing. I worked hard to make sure students understood and retained information, and helped them learn various ways to comprehend and remember things.

A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy helping young students reach their potential. I believe that students learn best when subjects are presented in a interactive and fun way. I encourage student feedback and participation by asking questions and providing activities. I try to open student's eyes to things they have never experienced before, whether it be a foreign culture that they have never heard of, or the idea that they truly can succeed.
I have been a Sunday school teacher for a wide range of age. This experience makes me comfortable in many different classroom settings. I also taught basic health lessons to adult women in developing nations such as India and Uganda. I have been a substitute teacher for elementary, middle, and high school students in the Arlington Independent School District in Texas. A Little Bit About Me...

Since graduating from Northern Illinois University, I have had several experiences teaching children at the elementary and middle school age. I was a nanny for a family of three for a year right after graduating. It was a wonderful experience and gave me the opportunity to create my own lessons and activities for the children. The following year I was a substitute teacher in Wisconsin for various grade levels and loved each experience. I am looking forward to beginning to substitute teach again this December in the DeKalb area.
I have wanted to be a teacher all my life. I love working with children and teaching. I believe that children are the future and should be given the opportunity to do well and succeed in school. I like to do my best to teach students how to do something and then let them discover and practice how to do it for themselves on their own. I feel that prov ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a current graduate student of Texas A&M University working towards my PhD in Particle Physics here at Fermi National Accelerator Lab I have had the good fortune to not only experience the passion and interest that research in physics provides, but develop an extensive and diverse teaching experience. With an emphasis on making physics fun and understandable I have had experience in many of the basic physics courses as well as helping develop an outreach course to present the upper level physics ideas (big bang, black holes,...etc) to the mass public in an approachable and understandable way.
I have learned that in teaching physics and mathematics it is important not only to have a grasp of the broad principles and concepts but to see how they are related and build upon one another. Furthermore, I have seen the success in teaching and practicing physics and mathematics from a pro ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I would consider my teaching style as hands on. I love to work with children and know that I am giving the confidence to learn. I believe that every child has the ability to learn if they are given a safe learning space to explore their potential. I believe that being an educator is the greatest gift that I could give to anyone in need.
As a college graduate, I have earned a bachelor's degree in Economics, with a minor in Statistics. I have 2 years in a professional financial position. Along side of my finance career I assisted a friend of mine in the academia field. I assisted in creating lesson plans, grading papers, writing tests, and team building activities. Throughout my academic career I have always succeeded in math. I have always had a love of numbers and would love the opportunity to share my love and help others. As an active member of my community, in the form of pageantry, volunteering, and leadership, I have always enjoyed instructing others. Currently, I love my job at Midwest Generation as an Instructional Designer of Training. I get to train Engineers and Office Managers on subjects I knew little about, and have grown in responsibility and development. I love kids, since my summer camp instruction job I held all throughout High School as well as an active instructor at my church. I just graduated from Illinois State University about a year ago, and am recently educated and knowledgeable in all subjects, especially English, Social Studies, and Math. More About This Tutor...

I have been teaching for 25 years. I began as a high-school teacher, taught grade school and special education, and then spent 20 years as a university professor of English and philosophy. I started tutoring as a graduate student and have been doing it on and off now for 20 years.
I like working with grade-school students, but I like best a variety of teaching situations. That for me truly represents the challange of teaching. Only a diversity of students can bring learning to itself, reveal the demands of cognition for what they are. As a philosophy PhD this interests me very much.

A Little Bit About Me...

I truly believe in education and it’s one of the top foundations of good citizen. I love children and I feel sorry for children who have difficulties in their studies. I am sensitive to the needs of children that I can easily adapt to their needs. Children have different background and learning capabilities, I consider these factors in my teaching. I just don’t tutor I also study their lessons and try to devise the best way I can present a lesson to their level of understanding. Motivation and setting goals for children are some of the ways I can improve their interest in learning. I had been successful in doing this with my previous experience as a tutor for children with learning capabilities.
I am a life time learner and had been learning all my life by attending classes, reading books and attending workshops. My most recent tutoring, last winter season; really had opened my ey ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Every child has a different way of learning, whether it is visual, auditory, or kinesthetic, and it is important for the teacher to be able to teach accordingly. I feel that it is important in teaching to make every child feel positive about themself and have a good attitude towards school. Every child is different in their own way, and I feel that it is crucial to have a positive learning environment so the children are accepting of each other's differences.
For as long as I can remember, I have always wanted to teach children and enrich their lives in as many ways as possible. I started helping my mom out when she taught preschool at the age of three. After school during elementary, middle, and high school, I would always go to school and help my mom in the classroom or during the day when I could. I constantly went to school functions and volunteered to help out at the fun ... read more
