A Little Bit About Me...

I like to teach using different strategies and methods, because I know all the students in the classroom are not going to learn the same way. I feel it is best to fully understand my content and standards. Then create lessons to teach the students in a way they will learn the material best for them. I teach using various methods: hands-on, kinesthetic, real life learning, music, incorporating other contents and likes, while still creating a routine for structure. My style changes based on my students needs.
I have completed a MAST (Mathematics as Strategic Teaching) Seminar. I have completed training over engaging difficult students and I have also learned more innovative techniques in which to use when engaging students who are trying to achieve more challenging skills. When teaching, I consider all learning modalities and styles. In my experience,visual and tactile approaches tend to have the highlest level of success. Technology such as learning games, computers, and etc. are useful tools in teaching. Hands on activites along with munipulatives and supplemental materials are excellent additions to validate that the skill or lesson taught is being comprehended.

In high school I tutored middle school and elemetary school aged children in reading, math, and chemistry. In college I tutored other peers in history, psychology, Spanish, and math. My current position is in psychology/engineering research. I have learned a wide variety of subjects due to my past experience and my everyday working experience continues to be a great learning environment.
