College degree in 2002 in CIS, a couple certifications here and there. I have been a Machinist for 6 years going now. Straight A's all thru school and love working with people....especially children. I have a 5 year old myself and lets just say he can do things that most cannot. I love to teach and be around people of all ages. Everything can be explained in 10 different ways. I've been doing private tutoring for about a year but have been training drafters at work for a couple of years now. I got started drafting for a Civil/ Construction company that specialized in tilt-up construction. I then moved on to an MEP firm that specialized in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, sprinkler and telecom. I've done some Audio/visual drafting as well but for the past 2.5 years have worked for a fire alarm company. I never thought I'd be a tutor but I ended up being the guy who trains new drafters at worked and it turns out that I liked it. I moved on to doing home tutoring from there and I enjoy doing it. I enjoy one on one tutoring. It's what I'm use to doing at work. I've done group sessions before and am ok with them but I feel like students get more out of it if we do one on one.

My approach is to establish a relationship with small talk and introductions. A parent must be present at all times. I will keep up with the child's work load in the respective subject and also be in contact with their teacher. But my inital style will be repetition, which I found to be most productive during my time in the military. However, I realize that there many different methods to teaching. I will offer as many tools or resources that are needed to assist the child in learning the subject matter. And I will search continually to find the best method for the child and subject that we will study. My background includes 25 years in upholstery manufacturing and also honorable military experience. I have a daughter in the 8th grade and a son in the 6th. I have home schooled them the past 9 years. They have very different learning styles which has helped me to learn to teach in different ways to accommodate their needs. I am patient and easy going and I love helping kids. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. My daughter is now in the 8th grade and tests at the college level in reading and high school levels at most other subjects.
