My comments on tutoring Desktop Publishing : I have designed my own postcards, business cards, flyers, brochures and many other desktop publishing projects. I have done photo calendars using your photos. I have produced my own newsletters and other printed materials for my own business. I have designed my own greeting cards.

I tutored with the Writing Fellows every Thursday at Schoolcraft College when I was working towards my Associate's in Liberal Arts. I helped students write and edit their papers. The primary focus was English but there were a few Social Studies/History students thrown in there. I graduated in April 2009 from Eastern Michigan University with my Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Media and Film with a Minor in Creative Writing.
I would usually look the paper over and point out problems with grammar and spelling and tell the student why they weren't working. I believe in the mantra "show, don't tell" when it comes to teaching. I'm pretty laid back and willing to work at whatever pace the student is comfortable with. The one thing that I observed about the learning process, is that a person quickly grasps a concept if he/she is interested, or the topic is thoughtful and challenges the wit of a person and lastly, a person is very comfortable in learning through his/her friends. Nobody is stupid not to grasp a concept. It is the methodology, technique and feeling of comfort and interest, that is required. Hence I try to be affable and was more involved.
