A Little Bit About Me...

I have teaching experience on all grade levels in urban school districts. I am currently a special education teacher in the Saint Louis Public School District, and I have enjoyed the challenge of working with educationally handicapped students and seeing many of them being mainstreamed into the general education population. I have had the opportunity to incorporate a learning center environment based on student needs, and utilized activity centers for individualized and small group instruction. These efforts helped to improve student achievement and stimulated interest in learning.
I have worked with students of varied ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds. A Little Bit About Me...

As a substitute teacher in the Bethalto school district, I feel I have been trained in all of the subjects necessary to tutor students. On a daily occurrence, I teach math, science, english, reading, social studies, etc. My specialties are english and reading. English was my minor in college and is something that has always been second nature to me. I was also a personal tutor for a child in the spring of '08 an fall of '08. His grades improved drastically from Ds and Fs, to Bs.
I have a very unique way of teaching. My key to success works on a system of discipline and rewards. I find creative ways to make the most mundane tasks fun to accomplish. As a non-traditional student I was more mature when I returned to finish my degree than when I had originally gone to school. As a result I graduated Suma Cum Laude and was awarded the Competitive Graduate Award from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville to begin my graduate education. Subsequently, I was awarded a teaching assistantship and have taught as a TA for the last two semesters in social statistics. While finishing my MA I have also been teaching at the community college level for the last year.
