A Little Bit About Me...

As a tutor, I understand my responsibility primarily as that of helping children reach their potential. I try to help my students understand concepts they are struggling with in primarily three ways. First, I find what their strengths are and see if I can extend understanding of these concepts to the one's they are struggling with. Secondly, I use many examples of a concept to break complex math down into simpler, concise ideas and problem-solving techniques. Third, I try a number of different conceptual approaches to determine which is the most useful for a particular student.
As a student at the University of Chicago, I have tutored at the local Ray Elementary school through the Neighborhood Schools program. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a knack for the sciences and left the Midwest to follow my love of Marine Biology. While in school, I revisted my interest in the arts (painting, piano, and animation). It was then I realized I was passionate about so many topics and didn't want to limit myself to one thing! I've worked with kids throughout my entire life, whether I was teaching swim lessons, piano lessons, or tutoring. I took Spanish for 4 years in High School use it every chance I get. If I had the time I would take on degree after degree!
