A Little Bit About Me...

My strongest suit in my teaching style is probably the many ways that I would approach teaching a certain principle. If the student does not understand one way to approach a problem, I try to best to help them understand and learn another way. I feel like since everyone learns differently, a tutor should approach a problem from as many angles as possible. My teaching style is also very patient. I suppose the saying "give a man a fish, feed him for a day, teach a man how to fish, feed him for a lifetime" would apply to my style. I try to make sure the student understands the principles behind the type of problem and not just how to do the one problem. That way, if they see another problem like the one they just learned, they can apply what the learned and do the second problem.

More About This Tutor...

After my high school education, where I achieved A's in both core and elective math, I began teaching math at the elementary and high school level. I eventually broadened my scope and taught english and science, all part time. I went on to pursue my undergraduate degree and am now pursuing my MBA at Mercer University, Atlanta. I continue to teach as a passion whenever I get the opportunity to.
My style of teaching involves interesting riddles and quizzes at the beginning of each class to prepare students. I also conduct short quizzes on a regular basis to help improve students speed. I typically include illustrations and diagrams in my teaching to enhance students understanding. I am very patient with children and I make it my responsibility to help build their confidence by determining and building on their strengths and improving on their weaknesses.

A Little Bit About Me...

I feel that teaching will not only inform young minds to think differently or make them more motivated to learn. But to allow one to master his or her knowledge in general, teaching allows oneself to fully understand the subject in their own minds. Young minds such as children are easily impacted by an adult, which I feel that that should be influenced with positive, enjoyable learning. Allowing a young mind to like learning or studying will allow them to become very motivated individuals in life. I will only strive to make a positive difference in a child's life and let them enjoy the simple discoveries of learning.

With enthusiasm and a caring attitude I help students to engage in learning. I hope to see students' sense of confindece grow by encouraging them to achieve small goals, practice, and tackle progressively larger challenges. By providing models for good note-taking skills, organization of concepts, and tools to solve word problems, I help students learn skills that will help them in any circumstance. As a tutor, I can give individual attention as a student solves a problem. It helps a student to trust their style, ask a question in the moment, and learn to see new ways of problem solving. Some students learn by structure and repetition. Some students prefer discussing relevance to everyday life. I listen to the student and work with their learning style be it visual, auditory, or kinestetic. With an appropriate balance of encouragement and challenge, I help students to reach excellen ... read more
