I enjoy helping students improve their writing skills. In college, I majored in print journalism. I was an editor at a student newspaper for about six months. In addition to assigning articles and posting articles on the Internet, I mentored other journalism students. I helped them improve their style and grammar. After graduating, I began work at a weekly newspaper. I started out as a news and feature writer, but was promoted to a news and copy editor after several months. I advised and edited the work of three writers. Although my work experience is specifically in journalism, I also enjoy helping students with other writing assignments like essays and short stories.

In my instruction I apply research-based strategies, theories, new techniques, and modern methods of instruction. I put a lot of thought and work in to creating my lesson plans. This can be seen in the detail that I provide on each plan. I pay careful consideration to connecting the lesson to the GLEs and EALRs and I summarize each lesson in great detail. My lesson plans are thorough, well-crafted and would enable anyone to come in and take over my class in my absence.
