I studied creative writing at the SC Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities in Greenville SC. There I studied poetry, play writing, grammar, editing, fiction, and creative nonfiction. I won two national scholastic writing awards for my writing. I also studied at Rice University which is a highly selective university in Houston Texas. I majored in sociology and also took many intensive English classes. While a student at Rice, I tutored several of my peers in both sociology and english. I also tutored several international students who needed assistance drafting essays in english. I really enjoy being around kids and helping them learn new things. When you teach a kid something and they finally get it, the sight of their face lighting up is priceless. I believe that one should teach using a variety of methods because all kids do not learn the same way and each individual method shows something new each time. I believe that all kids can learn so much if they work as hard as they can and put forth maximum effort. I think it is very easy to learn/teach using as many hands on examples as possible.
