For 20 years I worked for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools, as a fifth through 7th Grade classroom teacher. I taught all of the academic subjects in various combinations, sometimes all at once to a self-contained class. The State of Tennessee recognized me as "Highly Qualified" in all subjects, from Kindergarten through 8th Grade. There I taught 4th, 5th, and 7th graders. Students in my class have had vision issues, autism, aspergers, and ADD/ADHD. A Little Bit About Me...

The greatest benefit of teaching, to me, is seeing the look in a child's eyes when he or she finally reaches that understanding of what you are teaching them. The challenge of finding a new way to help a child reach this understanding is what drives me to teach. As each child learns differently, a teacher must be constantly brainstorming new teaching methods in order to reach every student and address each of their individual learning styles.
