I am extremely passionate about all topics related to the biological sciences. I earned a bachelor's degree in Biology. During my undergraduate education I had the opportunity to enhance my ability to educate others and share the fascinating world of biology. I was honored with a teaching position in Osteology and tutored students in Cell biology and statistics. I had phenomenal success with my students and found myself tutoring fellow biology students in my own classes for fun. I also have a masters degree in Ecology and Evolution. I have always found tutoring to be a way to give back to the community. As a Biochemistry student at St. Cloud State University I found that tutoring others and helping others actually helped me also gain a better understanding. I have an extensive background in science and laboratory work. I am currently attending law School at St. Thomas University School of Law and intend to combine my background in science in the field of intellectual property. I have helped or tutored in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry, Calculus and lower level math classes.
I find that tutoring is very fulfilling and a good way to give back to the community. I like to break down the subject into terms that a person might find more interesting or easier to understand. I think that building trust is also very important in the tutor relationship. The trust will allow the student to admit what he/she d ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

When considering my teaching style, it is difficult to explain a single process for teaching. When working with different people it is important to remain creative, inventive, and patient. Every person has different learning styles and it is important to recognize in that person what helps them understand more fully. Whether it is diagram and pictures, breaking a complex problem into many simple parts, comparing similar examples that are familiar to the person, or simply taking the time to make sure that the child feels comfortable saying "I don't know". All of these are useful tools, but in my opinion by far the most important is patience. Remaining patient when someone doesn't understand is the absolute most important thing. Too many children are willing to give up on a subject, all they need is someone who knows they can do it, and can show them how.
