I believe that most people learn best by doing; therefore, I am a very hands-on instructor.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in History, and a Master's Degree in English and Writing, both from Northern Michigan University. I have extensive experience in business communications and public speaking. I have taught English and Writing at the college level, and have also used my knowledge and experience to help elementary students succeed. A Little Bit About Me...

When I tutor, I first strive to make the session interesting and fun. Before beginning, I would strive to identify which types of learning the student excels in and focus on them. I also make sure to change the learning styles and activities often to avoid students from becoming tired of an exercise.
I have taught at the university level for 4 years and tutored all ages of children and adults for 3 years. The most important thing to me is making sure each child is able to learn in a manner in which they feel comfortable. Each person's learning style is as unique as the individual themselves. So, I like to get input from the student as to how they would like lesson plans and exercises to be implemented. I don't believe that there are children who can't reach their fullest potential as long as there is a teacher who is willing to put in the extra measures that are necessary.
Due to my undergraduate experiences at NCAT, I was able to develop new skills while enhancing the ones that I already possessed. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked as a synthetic organic chemist at Eli Lilly pharmaceutical company for five years. I spent the next 20+ years as a stay-at-home mom and homeschooler, teaching my three children from kindergarten until they graduated from high school.(My two oldest are now college graduates and the third is presently in college.) During my years of homeschooling, I taught both chemistry and biology to high school students in our homeschool group. I have also tutored friends who were in nursing programs and struggling with chemistry. I enjoy algebra and geometry and have done some tutoring in each subject. I taught English as a Second Language for five years to members of the Hispanic community in Columbus.
