A Little Bit About Me...

I taught High School US, World and European history to grades 10 - 12. I taught AP European History and Government. I taught Geography, Civics, and Psychology for 5 years. I have owned my own construction firm for 10 years and worked in manufacturing. My specialty is European History with an emphasis in the classics. My literature background is not formal but is extensive.
I have always emphasized the immeasurable distinction between education and schooling. Although the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive, in our era they are more and more. I strive to draw a student into a fascination with learning. If that occurs, then education is a fait accompli.

Through experience and research, I have developed a tutoring style that has helped countless students achieve unmeasured success. My students usually respond very well to my standard explanation of the procedure for solving algebra equations, as well as other math concepts, such as logarithms, trigonometry, and derivatives. On occasions when my students do not quite understand my standard explanations, I will explain the concept in a different way until the student understands. I believe in inquiry based learning, or teaching any subject by incorporating the student's natural curiosity and drawing connections to their interests. I don't taking a long time to teach a student how to approach a single problem or concept and foster their understanding of the material so that they will understand how to approach the problem on their own.
