I took the exam twice in high school and got a 25 on both occasions. I don't any paid, professional tutoring experience. However, I have volunteered my services to family members and friends. During my sophomore year, I took Organic Chemistry and excelled. However, my friends were struggling. They hated me a bit for how easy it came to me. I decided to tutor them and help them with homework assignments and studying. They ended up doing very well on the exams, allowing them to secure a 3.0 or higher in the course. I also had to regular help my classmates out with more complex problems in Physics. I was not so much tutoring as working together with them on the homework, but still, it involved clear explanation and a thorough knowledge of the subject matter. I prefer a very laid back, informal environment when I teach. I can adapt very easily, and only require that my students respect me and try their best. I can help them with the rest I have tutored over 50 children and teens, ages 3-14, in various subjects. With my youngest students, I have helped them improve their reading comprehension and ability markedly. My older students have been teens preparing for college, and as I have done extremely well on my SATs and ACT (scores can be supplied upon request), I have been able to help them improve in that field as well.

I am very personable, encouraging and understand how intimidating the blank page or the prospects of taking a standardized test can be. I have over 25 years of experience as a high school and college English instructor. I have a bachelor degree in English education and a masters in liberal arts with 18 graduate hours in English.
