My comments on tutoring Writing Skills : I have taken extra writing courses in addition to my elementary education courses. I have taught writing skills for thirty years to students from Kindergarten through sixth grade.

I have tutored in both Robeson County and Cumberland County for a total of six years. I tutored students in math, reading and science from grades Kindergarten to sixth grade. We also prepared students in grades three through six for the End of the Year test. We taught test taking strategies as well. In addition, I have tutored students that attend college in American Government and World History. I also, tutored in GA for three years. There I tutored various age groups in writing, reading, math, test strategies, and Microsoft Office. My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient. Recognizing that all students learn differently, I seek to ascertain their learning styles and then adjust my tutoring style to that learning style.

Writing Skills is one of my top subjects! I can help students of any skill level improve their writing.

I prefer to work with students one on one, getting a sense of their skill level, and then engaging with them where they are at to help them work towards their own personal goals.
I have been playing chess for close to seven years, many of those at the tournament level. I was a natural when I started, and have only grown in my concepts of the logic and theory of the game. What a better way to teach your teen than by a teen?

I graduated high school in late October of 2012. I am not currently in college. I am working twords bettering my future. I enjoy helping others and I find it easy. I used to be tutored and I hated it because the tutors seemed to not care if I got it. I make sure the person or people I am tutoring understand and remember how to do what I am asked to teach them. In high school my teachers used to send me to other classes and tutor kids in the middle of class. I am extremely flexable and can help just about anyone I try to teach. I will not say every because no one is perfect and I'm not going to pretend I am.

I began working as a Water Safety Instructor when I was 16 and taught swimming to people age 3 to age 76. I worked as a Teacher's Assistant at West Virginia university and taught my own section of a one credit course required of all freshmen students while working on a BA in English with a concentration in Creative Writing. While working on my MA in English Literature with a Certificate in Folklore at George Mason university, I worked as a substitute teacher and then was hired as a full time middle school English teacher.
