A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching; it is my best talent. I understand that math is not a "favorite subject" to a lot of students. Working one on one in a tutoring situation gets past the negative block students have in a math classroom. Several of my private students have worked with me for several years. Their parents said that they felt more confident in the class room and in testing situations because of their work with me. In addition to tutoring in traditional school math subjects, I have also worked with several students on ACT preparation. All of these students achieved a higher score on these tests after working with me one on one.

My comments on tutoring College Algebra : tutored at SXU

I have been a tutor for this past school year at Saint Xavier University and tutored developmental Math. I have also tutored calculus, geometry, algebra, and trig while i have been attending my undergraduate degree.I have found that the best way to tutor a subject is to get to learn the students learning style and then using real life applications so that the student can get a better grasp of the material and it has worked well when i was at Saint Xavier.

I have a Marketing BS as well as over 15 hours in accounting and German. Professionally, I have done over 18 years of sales training. Generally, I'm a constructivist, and I believe the best method of tutoring is providing a completely individuated scaffold for any student. While I was raised in old-school education, I believe that some of the newer techniques of education through hands-on, the use of digital technology, and through writing across the curriculum are effective for many students.
