I am passionate about music and English!

I have been playing and performing flute for 19 years. I began learning flute through the Suzuki method when I was 6 years old. I studied with Aniko Debreceny for 8 years. I graduated from Wheaton College Conservatory where I studied flute with Dr. Jennie Brown, and was a member of the Wheaton College Symphonic Band for 4 years. I took classes in Music Pedagogy. I had a combined degree at Wheaton for both music and English. My comments on tutoring Literature : Able to tutor/teach all elements in Literature, whether English or American.

I believe in tutoring so that the child receives feedback and fully understands his/her own limitations and how to overcome obstacles in class. Many children lack positivity in the methodology! I also believe that using art instruction helps children to learn in a more creative manner.

A Little Bit About Me...

I studied Languages for four years at University. I was about to get a degree in English and Portuguese when I moved to the US. I taught for one year. I worked in 3 different schools, in all of them, the subject was English. I have no experience teaching Portuguese outside of college, but I am planning to find students to change that. My comments on tutoring Literature : Have always read the great world novels from the great English novelists to the great Russian writers

Have tutored for five years with Wyzant, Tutoring Center of Herndon and on my own. My main concern is too make sure student is confortable in his/her understanding the subject material. The money part of the education of young people is really not a priority per se unless the individual student gets an understanding and hopefully confidence in taking on the subject at hand I tutor mainly in Math (Algebra, Geometry and Trig, but also Accounting,social studies, Finance, English , Reading Comp, Vocabulary
Laid back but serious as student learning subject matter is the most important factor in yuoring.

I believe in incorporating multiple methods of teaching language, and with such a complex topic as learning a second, or even third language I also believe in tailoring said methods to the student's specific needs. For example, if one finds a kindred with music, introducing them to french songs would be one of the stronger ways to accomplish fluency and language recognition.
