A Little Bit About Me...

Throughout my coursework at Eau Claire, I have adopted a constructivist approach to teaching. That is, I believe that every child is unique and learns differently. It is the instructors job to find out how each child learns the material, whether it be visually with demonstrations or integrating the material to an area of interest (like a favorite sport), and then cater to their particular need. As a result, I am easy to approach, likeable, and try to be a supportive as opposed to disciplinary mentor. I am also a huge fan of answering the 'Why do I need to know this?' question, and do my best to connect the problem or subject to something applicable to the child.

I have always enjoyed teaching. I love it when students have that moment when they finally get what you have been teaching them. During my sophomore year in high school I decided to begin tutoring ESL students. I found the ability to help others succeed very rewarding, and began tutoring fellow classmates in courses including but not limited to English, math, biology, and chemistry. These sometimes difficult subject always made sense to me and I enjoyed watching as the students I tutored were successful. I have in that time earned a BS in Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Florida State University.
