I have about 20 years of one-on-one teaching experience working with all types of aspiring guitarists. I have been playing for 30 years, and have performed close to one thousand times in various small jazz groups, both as a leader and a sideman. I have also sustained original rock projects and played in large ensembles. I have produced large scale concert events and handled the booking for several music venues. I make sure each student receives a real music education and becomes comfortable with a music theory foundation, I expose all students to reading and encourage them to become good readers, which will set them apart from many guitar players out there. A good portion of the lessons focus on repertoire, with the student choosing the majority of the material.

Mike's Guitar Studio is based on the belief that the students needs are of the utmost importance. The Studio is committed to meeting those needs. As a result, a high percentage of our business is from repeat customers and referrals. Lessons are catered towards what the student wants to learn. There is no one method that works for each student. Each student has different ways of learning, we recognize this and apply it to our teaching policy. The Lessons should be a fun and positive experience as the student progresses on his or her instrument. The primary instructor/ owner, Mike Benninger, has a B.M. in music performance from Keene State College and a M.M. in music performance from the Yale School of Music. Mike's Guitar Studio is located in New Windsor in Mike's Home Recording/Music studio. Recording can be an added tool for recording lessons, songs, pieces, and ideas.
