Creative, energetic tutor with special needs experience

I homeschooled a gifted third grader, including administering standardized end-of-grade test, for 1 year. I have tutored homeschooled first and third graders in math, reading, writing, social studies, and art for the last 6 months. I tutored a 8-12-year-old with autism spectrum for 4 years. My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : I am excellent at helping others understand and analyze what they have read, as well as assisting others in developing analytical skills of their own. I spent a summer in Uganda teaching Reading, Writing, and Reading Comprehension to children ages 7-18.

I have a degree in English and Creative Writing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and have two years experience writing for the Daily Tar Heel. My tutoring strategies: -throughout my experiences, I realized that each person is different and require different teaching methods depending on the individual's preference -I prefer to use study skills that will benefit the individual; I have a variety of strategies depending on the subject as well. some individuals learn well using flashcards, while others prefer repetitive writing for memorization - I have had a couple of ADHD clients that prefer learning games and activities because it helps them stay active, but focused at the same time
