I have been teaching for three years at the secondary level, although I have worked with younger students. My degree is in Business Education, but I have tutored in math before as well. A Little Bit About Me...

I got my first teaching experience as a lab instructor for undergraduate physics labs and fell in love with the profession. The best part of the experience is seeing the student grasp a concept that they felt out of reach. I enjoy coming up with inventive ways of communicating the difficult portions of math and science. Most of my students benefited from my teaching style which includes many examples and encourages a dialogue approach to difficult concepts.
As a non-traditional student I recognize the necessity to create a level of confidence that inspires a student to continue their education with success. A Little Bit About Me...

No two students are the same which is why it is so important to have a flexible teaching style. My first lesson is usually spent analyzing a students attention level, skill level, and learning style. Some students learn through repetition, others like lots of different examples, and there are always a few who want to know why and how something works, eg. theory, proofs, and real world applications. I like to try a lot of different things and see what works with an individual. I have also taught middle and high school students, so I have also learned how to teach in an entertaining way.
Upon entering college in 1998, I had already taken Calculus while most other students were typically taking Algebra. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated in 1999 from NMSU with a degree in Elem/Spec Education. While attending school, I worked in a group home for troubled teens and at a facility for adults with disabilities. But my desire to teach children led me to tutoring at a private non-profit school for K-12. I worked there two years before starting to work at a facility for troubled youth. I worked there for one term before they closed down, and then started working with treatment foster care children through Mesilla Valley Hospital, a facility for children and adults with mental disorders. Last year I returned to school to get my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education. Recently I retired, but am continuing to work on completing my degree.

I finished my associate’s degree in 1 year. The day I graduated I was asked to join the faculty of the community college. I taught there for 3 years and reached the highest academic rank available to me. In addition to the technical skills required of drafters, and renderers, I bring a high level of artistic training, graphics arts experience and design drafting expertise with me and I use all of it for the benefit of my students
I have taught widely varying subjects to many kinds of students. I am best when my students have anxieties about their work.
